I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the veterans who have extended the hand of friendship to me since I started my campaign for the Walsall and Bloxwich seat.
Even when we sometimes disagree on the politics it hasn’t stopped the banter and easy discussion that follows. I was delighted to attend the Walsall (Black Country) breakfast club monthly meeting (https://afvbc.com) and the D-Day 80th Anniversary Event at All Saints Church in Bloxwich that was organised by the local Royal British Legion Branch. Meeting someone there that I went to school with, who like me joined the Army, but is now back home and working at Bloxwich Academy was a huge (and pleasant) surprise!
Supporting our military, their families and our veterans is something I will always be vocal about and champion. Having worked for a military charity that looks after veterans I’m particularly happy to see the various organisations and clubs, locally based, looking after those from all three services.
The stated aim of the Conservative Government is to make the UK “the best place to be a Veteran”, I hope to be a part of that becoming a reality. And to all the veterans based in Walsall and Bloxwich I’m always up for a coffee or something stronger.
